Why do I have to pay extra on my final bill, even if I was only a customer for a few months?

Did you become a customer during the winter (for example, on January 1st) and switch to another energy supplier a few months later (for example, on April 1st)? Or does your meter reading fall in that period? Then there’s a good chance you’ll need to pay extra on your final bill.

Why is that?

When you opt for monthly advance payments, we base the amount on your estimated annual energy usage. That total is evenly divided into 12 equal monthly instalments — the same amount every month, whether it's summer or winter.

But… in winter, your energy consumption is usually higher — think of heating, lighting, shorter days... And during those first months, your monthly payments don’t yet reflect that extra usage.

If you stay with us for a full year, things balance out naturally: you consume less in the summer, so everything evens out. But if you're only a customer during the winter months, you’ve likely used more energy than you’ve paid for so far. That’s why you’ll need to pay the difference at the end.
