What is a solar panel?

A solar panel is also known in jargon as a 'photovoltaic module' (PV). A PV module (or thus solar panel) consists of solar cells that convert sunlight into electricity, in the form of direct current. That direct current moves from cell to cell, and from panel to panel to eventually be converted into alternating current by the inverter.
